我的家乡是永康市外几十里的一个小村。早些年，村里的许多房屋是茅草做的顶儿，所以得了“茅鼓隆”村名。
要问咱们小孩子最喜欢的节日是哪个？茅鼓节算得上是村里的特色节日，更是孩子们的节日。
每年立秋左右，快到“茅鼓节”的前一天，家家户户的孩子们都会争先恐后地跑去收茅草。茅草可是这活动必不可少的原料！刚收的茅草油亮亮的，怎么看都像是打了蜡似的。茅草摸上去滑溜溜的，可有韧性了！任凭你怎么折，怎么弯，都不会断掉。茅鼓节最重要的工作就是把茅草编成鼓的形状。因为在老人们看来，鼓就代表着团圆、平安。
用茅草编鼓可是有难度的，村里的大人，尤其是老人最会编了，孩子们要想参加活动，就得自己学着编。编鼓要诀就是要环环相扣，扣紧了，鼓才不会散。成形的鼓是扁扁的，厚约五至十厘米，鼓面为圆形，直径约二十至三十厘米。鼓面摸上去光滑，有格子状的斑纹。茅草的穿法也十分讲究，一根在上，一根在下，还有一根得在中间固定、支撑。
鼓编完了，就可以往鼓里装上大把的糖了！乡下可没有那些好吃又好看的水果糖、橡皮糖，却有孩子们最爱吃的麦芽糖和皮筋糖。皮筋糖实际上是跟皮筋相像的“硬糖”。糖的外面有一层硬硬的壳，里面却是柔软的“夹心”，是孩子们的最爱。把糖装好，孩子们的工作就完成了。此时，大人们正在搭“舞台”，布置活动场地。
