我心目中的长城长城，是我早已向往的去处。暑假里，我如愿以偿饱览了中华民族古老的长城风光。八达岭耸立在北京西郊，远望起伏连绵，近看山岭陡峭。长城盘旋在山梁上，像腾飞的龙。站在长城上往下看，只见停车场的一辆辆轿车如甲虫，一个个行人如蚂蚁;往上仰望，蓝天白云，烽火台傲然挺立。登长城看起来容易，走起来气喘吁吁，好不容易才走到好汉坡，大家都累得汗流满面。妈妈说：“不到长城非好汉，到了长城不自满。”听了妈妈的.鼓励，我又坚持往上登，终于登上了八达岭长城高处——烽火台。
爸爸告诉我：这是古代秦朝，为了防御匈奴的入侵，劳动人民用肩挑手扛，用砖石砌成的。以后逐渐连成了万里长城。我们的心情都很激动，从不同角度，选取不同的景点，拍下了10多个镜头。站在长城上，我浮想联翩：二千多年前，在那么恶劣的条件下，劳动人民就能烧出那么质好量多的火砖，砌成了坚实的城墙，实在是了不起!我们要弘扬中华民族吃苦耐劳、艰苦奋斗的精神，把祖国的各行各业建设得蒸蒸日上、欣欣向荣。长城，被联合国教科文组织列为世界文化遗产。我们要保护好长城，更要弘扬中华民族的历史文化。我今年9岁了，我要好好学习，天天向上，长大了要成为祖国的栋梁之材，为祖国的繁荣富强、为世界的和平幸福，贡献自己的力量。
长城是我国古代劳动人民创造的奇迹。自秦始皇开始，修筑长城一直是一项大工程。据记载，秦始皇使用了近百万劳动力修筑长城，占全国人口的1/20!当时没有任何机械，全部劳动都得靠人力，而工作环境又是崇山峻岭、峭壁深壑。可以想见，没有大量的人群进行艰苦的劳动，是无法完成这项巨大工程的。长城连续修筑时间之长，工程量之大，施工之艰巨，历史文化内涵之丰富，确是世界其他古代工程所难以相比。孙中山评论长城时说：“中国最有名之工程者，万里长城也。工程之大，古无其匹，为世界独一之奇观。”
美国前总统尼克松在参观丁长城后说：“只有一个伟大的民族，才能造得出这样一座伟大的长城”。所以说，长城作为人类历史的奇迹，列入《世界遗产名录》，当之无愧。长城，是我们中国的一条长龙，是见证中国发展的有效见证。所以我们要到长城去玩。这也验证了“不到长城非好汉”的含义。

the celebration's is a time for protection (防护) from evil (邪恶) and disease (疾病) for the rest of the year. it is done so by different practices such as hanging healthy herbs on the front door, drinking nutritious concoctions (营养品), and displaying (展示) portraits (画像) of evil's nemesis(邪恶报应), chung kuei. if one manages to (成功做...) stand (直立)an egg on it's end at exactly 12:00 noon, the following year will be a lucky one.
