每年端午节，我们家的人就会戴上香包，这样蚊子就不会叮我们了。我们家门口还会挂上艾草，这是用来辟邪的。妈妈还会给妹妹穿上虎头鞋，让每个人在身上抹一点雄黄酒，这是为了驱赶有毒的虫子，让它们不敢靠近我们。我们还会吃粽子、划龙舟。
我问妈妈：“为什么要吃粽子呢?”妈妈告诉我，因为屈原跳的'江叫汨罗江，而汨罗江里有很多鱼，为了不让鱼吃掉屈原的尸体，人们就把饭团扔进江里给鱼吃，为了让饭团不散，人们就拿一些叶子把饭团包起来。这就是粽子的由来。
我又问奶奶：“屈原和端午节有什么关系呀?”奶奶说：“屈原是两千多年前楚国的爱国诗人。当时，楚国、齐国、秦国都是很厉害的国家，可是有一天，秦国变得更厉害了，所以齐国和楚国就联合起来对战秦国。为了打败楚国和齐国，秦国派了一位大臣告诉楚王，如果他放弃和齐国合作，就送楚国六百里地。楚王爽快地答应了。屈原说这是一个骗局，劝楚王不要答应，可是楚王不听。果然，最后楚王被骗了，楚国被秦国灭了，屈原就跳江自杀了。人们被屈原这种爱国精神感动了，就往江里丢粽子，不让鱼吃屈原的尸体。”
